All people in our country feel coming of critical situation and it is no wonder they are interested in explanations concerning crisis in connection with their job positions. So we asked Mr. Yanchenko, vice-chairman of the board, to comment on the situation.
- Mr. Yanchenko, how can you characterize this year crisis?
Crisis can be characterized as cyclical phenomenon, nowadays world economy experiences great depression, all structural parts are involved. And our country is not exclusion, Ukraine collaborates with world community in global financial processes. And in comparison with other countries Ukraine is less defended because of imperfect economic and political systems.
Present situation is even more complicated than economic problems in 1936 and 1996. Speaking about globalisation this very process has negative features as well as positive ones and since crisis embraces world economy system, it covers a wide range of spheres dealing with capital movement, education, labour force etc. Nobody is sure when this situation can be improved. Some experts predict it to be the fourth quarter of 2009, some argue for 2010. Thoughts concerning the origin of crisis and its tentative specifications differ.
- What probable ways can be used to overcome crisis?
Speaking about our corporation in crisis circumstances, we are to join efforts and resist. It is quite necessary to be together and do our best to cope with all hardships. Corporation as a powerful figure on the world agricultural market, of course reacts to situation. And when we are unable to influence world price fluctuation for crops, we are to control all our expenses. Probably we would stop some social projects for a certain period of time. But I'd like to admit that "Svarog West Group" has great advantage over the other agro corporations. We have well developed structural diversification. If now we have no opportunity to sell crops, we can off-load animal products, vegetables, fruits with stable pricing policy.
Our financial partner is a high-capacity structure JSB Brokbiznesbank, which because of well planed wise policy is beyond crisis situation, so we can be sure in our stable future position.
- What about staff policy?
Speaking about staff policy, people can be sure that process of mass axe is impossible, because in agriculture personnel factor is the most important one. By the way our experts are the best in Ukraine and we are to value them. It is necessary to disclose balance in any situation and now administration and business management team are working together to gain statement of financial position.
Concerning payment for the lands we occupy, nothing is going change and people, we have contracts signed with, will get their money on time.
This crisis is a serious examination for our corporation and we hope that wise solutions will provide us with useful knowledge and new prospects on the world market.
