New Technologies

All What Is Genius Is Rather Simple

One famous proverb says "All what is genius is rather simple". This idea perfectly deals with new technology used by "Svarog West Group". This newly-designed method of crop storing is unique and at the same time quite ordinary in its construction and usage. What is the matter of the innovation?

We have got used to the process of gathering and transporting crops to the storage place, taking care of it all winter long to prevent heating, and moldiness. This Argentine method, presented by Akron firm, allows keeping crops right on the field in large polyethylene sleeves. So there is no need to build expensive stationary stockrooms and spend money on transportation services. As you know, corn is alive, it breathes and expires carbon dioxide. That is why, when packing those polyethylene sleeves with corn, with no air access, it becomes self conserved. Moreover, being airless, different mycelial fungus, epiphytes and microorganisms stop their vital activity.

Seeing this storage technique on the agriculture seminar in Zhytomyr, representatives of our corporation decided to try it on Svarog fields, they borrowed some equipment, and in December 2007 our crop was stored in the polyethylene sleeves for the first time. The result was just great. In July, when sleeves were opened it was made sure that this method really works.

Last year corporation has bought special machines - packing presses (250t/h) to provide storing crops in sleeves using own equipment. Besides equipment, the cost of storage affect the price of polyethylene hoses, loading, security and others, but still it proves to be a cheap method. Every sleeve is airproof, 67 meters long; diameter after being packed is 2,71m. And capacity of a sleeve is 200 ton.

Some damages to the sleeves can be caused by rodents, crows and because of unprepared ground surface. That is why it is of a great importance to provide decent conditions for the storage.

But benefits of this Argentine method are immense – argues Hryhoriy Hnatuk, it is really possible to keep in sleeves 5 000t of grain using territory of only 5 ha what is almost equal to our grain elevator capacity.

Laboratory analyses prove that quality of corn is quite good. Sleeves are holeproof non-transparent, black inside, white outside.

This year when we face unstable market prices caused by world crisis, there is no opportunity for the sale activity. So in terms of "waiting policy" this polyethylene sleeves are in a great value for every agriculture corporation.
