Recently Ukrainians celebrated the big and light Christmas holiday – Christening of Lord, which invariable attribute is consecration of water. This ceremony occurred open-air, on coast of the rivers, streams, lakes. Before the holiday people made the big cross, so-called «Jordan» from ice and put it near an ice-hole. It is considered, that by this day ordinary water turns to waters of the sacred river Jordan and that people, who has bathed in this water, washes off all sins.
This light tradition is supported also by the workers of «Svarog West Group» corporation. An engineer of corporation Valentyn Savchuk has told to us, how it occurs.
Valentine is engaged in tempering about 20 years, since the childhood. He was born with a congenital bronchitis and the father, the teacher of physical culture by an occupation, has started to temper the son. And the miracle has happened – the boy recovers and grows with love to sports and a healthy way of life.
For the first time Valentyn entered into a winter ice-hole when he was 22 years old and supports this tradition till today. He even has involved his co-workers in procedure of tempering. They are Mykola Kasjan, Sergiy Bondar, Sergiy Prokopchuk, Juriy Muzychuk, Jury Pantelej and Michael Golotjuk.
- Having tried, colleagues remained happy and, strangely enough, nobody got ill, - Valentine assured us, - and now it became a good tradition, on Christening. Last year we bathed in Lozychna village, and this year – in Seredyntzi.
Valentyn Savchuk is convinced that the healthy way of life - is a healthy nation, and advises to all people to temper the organism.
- However, - he marks, - it is not necessary to do all at once. It is important to begin with douche in the summer, from warm water, gradually lowering its temperature.
Mister Savchuk also likes to have cold shower and to pound a body with snow at home, as this procedure accelerates blood circulation in an organism and provides excellent state of health.
